RIDING...
Automobile philosophy
“The automobile is a work of art; it is sculpture, architecture, it is design and technology. The automobile is alive!”
The difference between classic cars and other collectibles and works of art is that they are part of our everyday life.
The automobile is the only transport designed to take you from your doorstep and bring you back to it.
The automobile is made up of hundreds of different parts and accessories. Each one of these parts is, in itself, a perfectly designed and integrated work of art.
Take the wheels, for example! They all have to be round. But for the past 110 years designers have been continuously coming up with new shapes and innovations which, although distinct from each other, always serve the same purpose!
Start your engine and drive back to 1912!
Take a tour in the Classic Car halls of PHAETHON Technological Museum and enjoy the outstanding collection of its founder, Mr G. Chryssanthakopoulos, which has received multiple awards and distinctions. The “route” starts in 1912 with the museum’s oldest exhibit and reaches today with the cars of the millennium.
Through this journey you will have the opportunity to witness how in the passage of time the aesthetic and functional approach in the design and production of automobiles has changed in the past century.
One of the peculiarities of early classic car production was that they were almost entirely hand‐made, in most part using wood. As a result, the automobile aesthetics of the time were closer to the luxury and finish of furniture, both in the car’s inside an outside, than to what is familiar to us nowadays.
Without a doubt, the classic car, a creation of another era, of different perceptions and aesthetic values, intensely releases its own distinct aura and personality.
All the cars in the collection are authentic and in excellent condition, frequently participating in Antique Rallies, Contests and other happenings in Greece and abroad.
